The Paperwork

Once you have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder, you will submit your paperwork to a local Child and Youth Special Needs office. The social worker will review your application and submit it to the Autism funding unit. Within 2-3 weeks you will receive two identical contracts from the AFU. Once you have these documents, sign them both and put them in the mail. This is typically when we sign our Request To Pay form (RTP) and Agreement, and get to work with your family.

I will meet with you to work out a budget estimate based on the funding you will receive, and the services you are requesting. We work within your autism funding. We do not have set programs you need to purchase as a package. I do not expect you to use your own money to supplement the program. There is no additional cost to you for any administrative assistance.

Goal Planning

Developing a goal plan typically takes 10 hours with a Consultant. We try to get this all done within 2 weeks. The cost for this phase is about $1100.

First, your Consultant will meet with you to discuss your child’s history and your priorities. You will be given a checklist to complete. We use either the Early Start Denver Program Developmental Checklist for children aged 18 months-4, or the Socially Savvy Checklist.

Next, the Consultant  will schedule two play sessions with your child. This gives us a chance to play with your child and observe how she/he interacts with the different materials, her/his level of engagement with the assessor and the level of participation when requests are made.

5 hours are used by the Consultant to complete the written report, the daily data sheet that will be completed by the team, the online file, and the clipboard of programs.

3 hours will be used by an assistant to create the child’s program binder, organize the materials needed for implementation, schedule team members, and attend the team meeting

Finally, a team meeting will occur to introduce team members to the family, review the goal plan, clarify the schedule of services, and answer any remaining questions.
