A Summer of Wonder
September to June our students work 1:1 with an instructor on an individualized goal plan. This partnership between student and teacher allows for relationship building, consistency in routines and lots of learning! In the summer months we like to shake things up a little, with an extra sprinkle of sparkly fun. July and August is about making a shift to a small group-teaching model. Group learning is about creating opportunities for cooperative play, being more independent, paying attention to what our friends are doing, and following a group plan. Both kinds of learning environments support important skill development and foster children’s ability to communicate with others. Summer is also a time for family holidays and days at the park and pool with friends. Families are encouraged to prioritize family time by choosing which weeks they would like their child to attend. The cost can be budgeted into your autism funding.

Wee Wonders, ages 2-4 years, will join us mornings at our centre for a variety of planned activities. Groups of 3-4 students will transition together to the following learning zones:

Reading Rainbow: Circle time with a book to build vocabulary and concepts
Imagination Station: A different theme each week will be planned for imagination time

Each learning zone will have a lead teacher with a planned activity ready for the day. As a team we invest serious time and brainpower into our summer activities to ensure each child feels included, learns, and has fun - all in a communication enriched environment. As always, we will provide a high level of support with our talented team, and detailed goal tracking of progress over the summer.
